The people who lead the Foundation

In my childhood, like many other girls, I dreamed of going to school and becoming a government officer. But fate had a different path for me. One night, my mother had a dream, and driven by superstition, my family dedicated me to the Devadasi system at the age of 13. The pain, suffering, and abuse I experienced as a Devadasi woman still linger in my heart.

I understand the struggles of Devadasi women deeply — because I have lived through them. For over 25 years, I have committed my life to social work, determined to help women and girls break free from this cycle of exploitation. I have witnessed the discrimination and stigma society places on Devadasi women, and it has only strengthened my determination to bring change.

With six like-minded partners, I co-founded AMMA Foundation with a shared vision: to build a society where every woman and child can live with dignity, equality, and respect. Together, we strive to empower women, children, and marginalized communities through education, healthcare, protection, and economic support.
